History

Hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with peripheral neuropathy

Wound presentation

  • Presented to ER with severe burns to bilateral feet after walking barefoot on hot sand on the beach
  • First presented in the office July 28, 2020

Treatment

  • Initially, betadine solution and wet-to-dry dressing was applied to bilateral foot
  • Week two post-injury, surgical sharp debridement with ADAPTIC™, wet-to-dry dressing, ABD™ pad, KERLIX™ and ACE ™ wrap
  • Upon hospital discharge, dressings were removed and changed daily in order to observe the burn
  • SANTYL Ointment with XEROFORM™ and dry dressings were applied once daily
  • Patient was seen weekly in the office for sharp debridement and daily dressing changes were performed by home healthcare
  • Left foot healed in 30 days with weekly sharp debridement and daily SANTYL Ointment
  • Right foot/leg needed vascularizing, but progressed on healing after vascular intervention. Left foot healed in one and a half months; right foot healed in four months
